Term Deposit benefit for educators
Term Deposits allow you to lock away funds and earn a fixed interest rate for a set period, so you know exactly how much money you will earn.
The education community can earn an additional 0.10% p.a. on the current advertised Term Deposit Rates. This can be applied to new Term Deposits or a maturing Term Deposit at request. To inform us of your educator status, please send us a Secure Mail or, Call us on 13 8777*.
*Members who are eligible for the educator term deposit benefit must advise staff of their educator status for the additional 0.10% p.a. interest to apply.

Minimum deposit amount of $1,000 required. Deposits with terms of three to eleven months automatically have interest paid at maturity. The interest may be paid to a savings account or reinvested. Deposits with terms of 12 months or more may have interest reinvested every 12 months, or paid to a savings account fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or yearly. Credit Union SA pays the same rate of interest regardless of the interest frequency.

Knowledge Counts banking benefits are available to any current or retired employee of the South Australian education community, as well as students carrying out studies in education. If you work as an SSO, receptionist, contract teacher, TRT, student teacher, groundsman, TAFE lecturer, librarian, classroom teacher or University co-ordinator (just to name a few), you are eligible for our Knowledge Counts banking benefits.
Plus, your immediate family members (parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings and partners only) are eligible too.

View all Education FAQsWhen you request to withdraw part or all of your Term Deposit funds prior to the contracted maturity date, an administration fee of $20 and an interest adjustment will apply.
No, you are unable to add money to your Term Deposit before maturity.
You can start with investing as little as $1,000. Term Deposits with terms of three, six or nine months automatically have interest paid at maturity. The interest may be paid to a savings account or reinvested.
For terms of 12 months or longer, you can have interest paid to your savings account as regularly as fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annually - it’s your choice!
