SA Public Education Awards

Recognising excellence and equity in public education

Credit Union SA is the proud Platinum Sponsor for the 2024 Public Education Awards and sponsor of the Credit Union SA Excellence and Equity in Education Award.

The Public Education Awards were established in 2011 to showcase excellence in the public education system. The awards recognise the achievements of teachers, leaders, allied health, support and corporate staff across the state.

An educator’s influence continues beyond the classroom and supports children and young people to reach their full potential in life. We all remember a teacher who inspired and motivated us to enjoy learning, and the awards honour the dedication and passion of individuals who deliver the best possible outcomes for young people and their families.

The awards recognise and showcase excellence in public education. Through this program the Department for Education South Australia proudly share their achievements with the community and highlight the innovation, passion and expertise that form the foundation the strong public education system.

Cultivating excellence and equity

Ungarra Primary School believes in creating stimulating and challenging experiences to empower children and young people to thrive in a rapidly changing world. They encourage creative and critical thinking, adaptiveness and technological engagement to prepare learners for the future. The school provides many opportunities beyond the classroom to extend learning. Through the enterprise group, years 3 to 6 collaboratively create fundraising opportunities that develop essential skills in communication, planning, finance and marketing.

The site also engages with the local community through hosting community groups and guest speakers. Their unique kitchen garden program allows learners to harvest produce and cook meals, instilling a hands-on, sustainable approach to food education and responsibility through their individual mini farming plots.
